Firebase Dynamic Links shut down?
Migrate in less than 30
Minutes.
Google deprecated Firebase Dynamic Links.
ChottuLink is the
drop-in replacement mobile teams are moving to, with every FDL feature you relied on, plus the analytics
depth FDL never shipped.
The Firebase Dynamic Links problem
Google officially deprecated Firebase Dynamic Links and set an end-of-life date of August 25, 2025, after which existing short URLs stop resolving and the underlying APIs return errors. For any team that invested in FDL as a core mobile engagement primitive, this is an urgent migration problem: user acquisition campaigns, referral programs, email flows, SMS drips, and printed QR codes all depend on links that will simply stop working.
The hard part is finding a direct-drop-in replacement for all features FDL offered, without any gaps. ChottuLink is built for exactly this scenario. It speaks the same deep linking primitives as FDL (long links, short links, custom domains, deferred deep links, social preview metadata), and you can quickly migrate all your existing links to Chottulink.
Five steps, less than 30 Minutes.
-
1. Export your Firebase Dynamic Links
Pull the list of short and long links from the Firebase console, including each link's destination, fallback URL, iOS/Android behavior, and social preview metadata.
-
2. Map your domain to ChottuLink
Add a CNAME record for your branded link domain (for example
go.yourbrand.com). ChottuLink auto-provisions SSL in minutes. See Custom Domain. -
3. Drop in the ChottuLink SDK
Replace the FirebaseDynamicLinks SDK with the ChottuLink SDK. The init and onLink callback shapes are almost identical. SDKs ship for iOS, Android, Flutter, React Native, Unity, and Capacitor.
-
4. Recreate existing links
Using Chottulinks Rest APIs, recreate your existing Firebase Dynamic Links in ChottuLink including destinations, fallbacks, and social preview metadata.
-
5. Validate with the link tester
Use the free Deep Link Tester to validate iOS Universal Links, Android App Links, and web fallbacks.

What happens if you do not migrate
Firebase shut down Dynamic Links in August 2025. Short URLs on
page.link domains have stopped resolving for most accounts, though behavior has been inconsistent
across Firebase projects. The practical risk: any live campaign, referral program, email footer, printed QR
code, or app store preview URL that still points at a page.link domain is either dead or
intermittent.
The SDK itself keeps working inside apps that already have it installed, but it cannot create new links and cannot retrieve deferred payloads for new installs. New users who tap a dead link and install the app land on the home screen with no context, the worst possible first-session experience. ChottuLink supports running both SDKs side by side during a transition window so you can ship the ChottuLink SDK, validate it, and remove Firebase in a follow-up without any attribution gap.
Who is migrating
Migration from Firebase Dynamic Links has been running in waves since Google announced the deprecation in 2023. Here are the app types we see migrating most often:
E-commerce apps
Product share links from marketing emails and push notifications — the links need to survive installs and land on the exact PDP.
SaaS mobile apps
Team invite links and magic sign-in links that must preserve workspace context through the App Store detour.
Content & social apps
Creator share links across SMS, WhatsApp, and Instagram, where broken links directly cost installs.
